In 1992 Wimborne Town famously won the FA Vase at Wembley. They had to beat Southern League Hastings along the way in a replay. Remember the original match at Cuthbury?

The Magpies can consider themselves desperately unlucky not to be already in the draw for the last 16 of the FA Vase.

The 480-strong crowd saw the home team more than hold their own against the Beazer Homes Southern League leaders in a physical game which included eight bookings, five to Hastings.

The visitors went ahead through a David Scott volley after 23 minutes, but Tommy Killick equalised with a 30 yard lob six minutes later and hit the bar in first half injury time.

Simon Lynn headed off the line with eight minutes to go in normal time, but 13 minutes into the extra half-hour Terry White put the Sussex side in front for the second time in the match.

The electrifying pace of 18 year old Dominic Barrett took him past two Hastings defenders to set up Taffy Richardson's equaliser almost immediately, and Mark Allen hammered in Barrett's corner to put Magpies ahead for the first time.

Then with just seven minutes of extra time remaining, Hastings were awarded a controversial penalty, given for an infringement by Richardson on Scott, and White converted.

There was more drama to come in this pulsating match. Wimborne sub Shane Turner was brought down inside the Hasting's box for the second penalty in a minute.

Turner took it himself, but Carman pulled off a crucial save to take the tie to a replay at Hastings tomorrow.
