The Fitness First Stadium, home of AFC Bournemouth, played host to an evening to raise money for the Steve Bernard Memorial Foundation last night.
‘Stevie B’ as he was affectionately known as, tragically lost his life in a car crash back in November last year. Tony Bernard (far left) and his family at the top table
Over 180 people turned up to support the event.
The evening, sponsored by the Daily Echo, was a huge success, with comedian Scott Charlton providing the entertainment with some hilarious material, and all for no fee.
A three course meal was followed by a moving tribute to Stevie from one of his closest friends Craig Mathie.
Stevie’s father Tony then thanked everyone for their support before an auction took place to raise more money for the Foundation.
An impressive array of football memorabilia was up for bids, with a Chelsea captains armband, in a frame, signed by their skipper John Terry, going for a staggering £1,050.
Arsenal’s first team squad signed one of their centenary shirts, which went for £750, a signed Chelsea shirt, signed by the whole first team went for £700 and, a Champions League winning first team squad signed Liverpool shirt went for £800.
The two highest prices were paid for a signed Real Madrid shirt, which raised £1,100 and, a gold Robbie Williams disc, signed by the man himself, which fetched no less than £1,200.
There was also a U2 frame, with four postcards of different albums and in the middle of the frame, signed by the four rock stars.
That went for £250.
