The winner of the 'signed book’ competition will be announced very soon and the closing day for entry is indeed today, so if you haven’t already entered, today is your last chance.

Andrew spent the 2004/05 season watching football match after football match, and this is an alternative account of his journey from matches in the Premiership, all the way down to the Wessex League.

There are no fewer than ten Wessex League clubs featured in the book, including: AFC Newbury, AFC Totton (and their reserve side), Hamworthy United, BAT Sports, Hamble ASSC, Cowes Sports, Winchester City, Lymington & New Milton, Brockenhurst and Alton Town. Also Downton reserves are featured.

Many of the Wessex League players from that season are also featured, including lightning winger Kevin Gill (now at Gosport Borough), Totton’s Mark Osman, Lymington & New Milton’s title winning winger Ben Thomson (now at Wimborne), as well as Brock’s Graham Kemp and Steve Hillyer.

There are no fewer than another 14 names from the Wessex League mentioned in the book, so it’s certainly worth a look at.

The book also features other fairly local teams such as AFC Bournemouth, Aldershot Town, Basingstoke Town, Farnborough Town, Havant & Waterlooville, Salisbury City, Weymouth, Dorchester Town, Eastleigh and Yeovil Town.
